Balguard Engineering Started

Steve and Tony started the company working from a unit called The Stables on Waterloo Road, Leighton Buzzard

1979
Move to larger premises

The growth of Balguard forced a move to a larger unit in Billington Road

1980
Another Move

After 12 months Balguard were moving again to a larger site on Youngs Industrial Estate

1982
Expanding again

After 2 years growth we were moving again to a site on Grovebury Road

1st balcony

First balcony installed in Limehouse

Subway signs

Subway signs installed in Shepherds Bush and Piccadilly

£1m Turnover

13 years after the company was started we reached £1m in turnover

1992
Royal Victoria Place, Tunbridge Wells

Opened by the Princess of Wales after 3 years of construction

1993
Paddington Station

Replacing the roof on Paddington Station involved removing 6 million rivets!

Move to Cherrycourt Way

In 1993 we needed larger premises and moved to our current site in Cherrycourt Way

£2m turnover

8 years after reaching £1m turnover the company had doubled in size to £2m turnover

First 3D Drawing Package

Balguard have always embraced the latest technology and in 1998 we bought our first 3D drawing package

2010 saw us pass £5m turnover with projects across London and the South East

Fabrication shop added

To keep up with the growth of the company we expanded our site on Cherrycourt way from 15,000ft2 to 30,000ft2 with the addition of a new fabrication shop

Reception foyer lift shaft structure, feature staircase and landings in this prestigious development

2019
Brighton Hospital

During the COVID lockdowns we were working hard behind the scenes at Brighton Hospital to keep things running smoothly. New access ramps, glass balustrades, handrails, walkways and access platforms.

Ruskin Square, Croydon – Lendlease

Substantial package of works in the heart of Croydon’s ‘urban renaissance’ at No 2 Ruskin Square.

Modern energy-efficient apartments and houses surrounded by 86 acres of open parkland.

The Salvation Army HQ – McLaren Construction

Architectural steel package for the ‘once in a lifetime development’ of the new Salvation Army Territorial Headquarters in Denmark Hill, Southwalk

The Next 45 Years

We are now planning for the next 45 years as Balguard goes from strength to strength with a new generation of managers and directors. We are continually investing in training and infrastructure to support our future growth throughout London and the South East.
